We did take out from here today. We ordered two of their Madai sashimi. They were incredibly fresh, light, and delicate. We absolutely loved it. The staff was incredibly sweet. It was a bit pricey, but the quality was worth it!

Here’s a polished review that still feels personal and genuine: My husband and I stopped in for a casual date night on a Wednesday evening, and we had such a great experience! It was later in the evening, so there were only a couple of parties dining, which made for a relaxed atmosphere. Our waitress, Aoki, was incredibly sweet, attentive, and accommodating throughout the meal. I also really appreciated that the chefs took my food allergy seriously and were happy to customize my sushi by removing the avocado and cucumber. We started with the crispy Brussels sprouts, and WOW—they were fantastic! The ginger was perfect, and while the sunflower seeds caught me by surprise at first, they ended up being a delicious addition that added great texture. I ordered the Honshu, customized for my allergy, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and I even discovered that I enjoy fish eggs on top! My husband also ordered the Honshu and loved it. His only comment was that he personally would have preferred the masago not to be torched—but that’s just a matter of preference. I went for wedding anniversary and waitress and sushi chefs were very friendly. The overall service was very good. I had Unagi Katsu handroll and Miyagi roll which was my favorite roll. My husband had 3 Handroll Set and Kabayaki roll which were very delicious.

Heian is hands down the best sushi spot in the McKinney/Anna area. They import their fresh fish straight from Japan, and you can taste the quality immediately—it’s incredibly fresh, buttery, and pristine. They have a fantastic menu that bridges traditional Japanese flavors with favorite Americanized specialty rolls. After three years of searching the area for good sushi, Heian didn't just deliver—it completely ruined all other sushi for me (even beating out spots I've tried in Boston). An absolute must-visit!

Heian Handroll Sushi makes a solid first impression—the space is clean, welcoming, and well put together as soon as you walk in. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is impressively quick, which is great if you’re looking for something convenient without a long wait. As for the food, it’s decent but not outstanding. The rolls themselves are enjoyable, but the rice leans more sticky than the light, seasoned texture you’d expect from traditional sushi rice. The seaweed also feels a bit lower in quality, which takes away from the overall experience. That said, if you’re really hungry and craving sushi, Heian Handroll Sushi will definitely hit the spot. It’s a reliable, no-frills option when you want something fast and satisfying, even if it doesn’t fully deliver on authenticity.
